How long is a Cat Lounge Visit?
Cat lounge visits are for 50 minutes. Please arrive on the hour; your cat lounge visit will commence approximately 10 minutes after the hour, once we have checked you in and processed your order in the cafe.
How much is admission?
Admission is $5 per person in addition to any cafe purchase (food, drink or meowchandise), or $8 with no additional purchase.
How many cats will there be?
. . . and how many will be awake?
We find the cats are generally most active and playful first thing in the morning. Afternoons are usually sleepier times, and evenings vary. Keep in mind it is not uncommon to show up in the early afternoon and find all of the kitties passed out in sunbeams! We let them do what they want. :)
Our summer hours go into effect June 15, and we will be closed in the afternoons from 2 pm to 3 pm to give the cats extra time to sleep without any people around. That said, cats LOVE napping, and can be known to sleep anywhere between 16 to 20 hours per day. If you prefer active cats, we recommend booking an earlier slot in the morning.
The number of cats at Catfe changes week to week, as cats get adopted and new ones are transferred in from the BC SPCA. Because of ongoing adoptions, we have a fluctuating number of cats with varying temperaments on any given day. To find out who's with us at any given time, check out the BC SPCA website following the instructions here. Or you can always call us before heading down to get an idea of what to expect!
Children 5 to 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult (maximum 2 children per adult). We do not allow children under 5 years old (including infants) in the cat lounge. Young children are welcome in the cafe, which has a viewing window into the cat lounge.
PLEASE NOTE: THURSDAY EVENINGS are for adults only.

We have a very small number of cats with us for the week of June 21–27. We will therefore be closing early at 7pm every day this week, and limiting the maximum number of visitors each hour, so as not to exhaust our furriends. 😸 Reservations are only available by phone this week. We advise calling ahead for more information to avoid disappointment.
Cats have teeth and claws, and they are quite capable of using them! You are interacting with the cats at your own risk. Pick up a How to Speak ‘Cat’ booklet to learn more about their body language and behaviour, or ask a staff member for ‘cat whisperer’ tips!
If you have been in contact with other animals today, please wash your hands upon entering the lounge.
Do not feed cats or leave food unattended! Cats may steal and eat your food, which could make them sick.
Please do not pick up the cats: some do not enjoy it. The cats are in control here – it’s absolutely ok if they choose to jump up into your lap!
Please do not wake a cat if it is fast asleep. If you prefer more playful cats, we recommend morning visits, when the cats are usually most active.
Take photos if you like (and tag us at @catfe_vancouver), but please turn off the flash!
You are entering a quiet zone . . . please use your inside voice!
No running is allowed in the lounge. Please do not chase after cats. This is the cats’ home and they are free to go wherever they please — do not hold them down or restrict their freedom of movement in any way.
Be gentle and respectful. Cats are people too! Respect their feelings as you would any other person.
PARENTS: Children 5 to 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult (maximum two children per adult). We do not allow children age 4 and under in the cat lounge. Please supervise your child at all times.
